Spring Fashion DIY from P.S. I Made This

It’s official…the fashion world is hollering for all things holographic! From the underground to the mainstream, designers from Eddie Borgo to Chanel have us seeing in 3D. Illuminate your life with an accessory that will light up any room. We teamed up with Who What Wear to create this statement clutch inspired by Stella McCartney’s Spring 2013 collection that will add an eye-popping, magical finish to any look. Get inspired to get iridescent and luminescent, then get ready to Instagram that hologram!
To create: Using a marker, trace all sides of the plastic envelope to the backside of the self-adhesive film. Cut out each section with scissors. Carefully peel and stick the film to your envelope. Starting from one corner, firmly apply pressure with the palm of your hand to smooth out air bubbles. Trim any excess film from the edges for a clean polished look.

IT'S ALMOST SPRING!!!!!

Since spring is almost here I thought I should share some of my top winter looks of 2012/2013 :)
ENJOY!!!

Beauty DIY: Relaxing Milk Soak from Elle Fowler

Beauty DIY: How to fix your cracked eyeshadow

I recently found a fun new beauty trick that I want to share with you. I found this thread in the Forum started by Cami G, and she posted a really cool tutorial for how to fix a crashed eyeshadow. If you’ve ever had an eyeshadow or blush that you absolutely love and realized that it completely cracks one day, you know that it’s an awful feeling! So I can see why Cami G decided to find a way to fix it. Cami G, thanks for inspiring me to make my own tutorial today! If you’ve cracked your favorite eyeshadow, instead of going out and spending money on replacing it, try this instead…
Here’s what you will need:
  • Rubbing alcohol (I just bought the 70% proof from CVS!)
  • An empty spray bottle
  • A coin the size of your eyeshadow
  • A tissue or piece of thin fabric
1. First, if your eyeshadow cracked into larger pieces, use a pencil or pen to smash it up into tiny pieces, so it becomes a powder. This will eventually make it easier to put back together!

2. Fill your empty spray bottle with the rubbing alcohol. Then spray your eyeshadow with the alcohol. If you’re repairing a shadow that is part of a palette, make sure to cover the rest of your colors so that they don’t get sprayed. You want the powder to be pretty soaked with rubbing alcohol, so go ahead and give it a good dose.

3. Then, take a coin that is the right size for your eyeshadow and wrap a tissue around it…

4. Press the tissue-wrapped-coin into the eyeshadow as hard as you can to pack the powder back together. Do this for about 30 seconds!

5. Gently lift up the coin and let it dry. Clean around the edges to remove any excess shadow.
And…voila! Your eyeshadow should be good as new! This can work for a blush or bronzer too, as long as you use something in place of the coin that is the right size for your makeup.

Wise Words on...Courage

Courage

by Edgar A. Guest

Courage isn't a brilliant dash,
A daring deed in a moment's flash;
It isn't an instantaneous thing
Born of despair with a sudden spring

It isn't a creature of flickered hope
Or the final tug at a slipping rope;
But it's something deep in the soul of man
That is working always to serve some plan.

Courage isn't the last resort
In the work of life or the game of sport;
It isn't a thing that a man can call
At some future time when he's apt to fall;

If he hasn't it now, he will have it not
When the strain is great and the pace is hot.
For who would strive for a distant goal
Must always have courage within his soul.

Courage isn't a dazzling light
That flashes and passes away from sight;
It's a slow, unwavering, ingrained trait
With the patience to work and the strength to wait.

It's part of a man when his skies are blue,
It's part of him when he has work to do.
The brave man never is freed of it.
He has it when there is no need of it.

Courage was never designed for show;
It isn't a thing that can come and go;
It's written in victory and defeat
And every trial a man may meet.

It's part of his hours, his days and his years,
Back of his smiles and behind his tears.
Courage is more than a daring deed:
It's the breath of life and a strong man's creed.

My Favorite Winter Into Spring Looks

The first look is one of my favorites for it's lovely floral skirt ( perfect for spring) and her cozy military jacket (great for keeping warm and chic). It's a great outfit for the end of winter/being of spring.

The second look is another favorite because of is gorgeous color-blocking and velvet pants. A perfect outfit for those late winter/spring days when you need a little more warmth.

A Poem of Inspiration

A State of Mind

(The Man Who Thinks He Can)
by AWalter D. Wintle

If you think you are beaten, your are
If you think you dare not, you won't,
If you like to win, but don't think you can
It's almost a cinch you won't

If you think you'll lose, you're lost
For out in the world you'll find,
Success begins with a fellow's will
It's all in a state of mind

For many a game is lost
Ere even a play is run,
And many a coward fails
Ere even his work is begun

Think big and your deeds will grow
Think small and you'll fall behind
Think that you can and you will
It's all a state of mind

If you think you are out-classed, your are
You've got to think high to rise
You've got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize

Life battles don't always go
To the stronger or faster man
But sooner or later, the man who wins
Is the fellow who thinks he can

My Take on "HAVING A COKE WITH YOU" by Frank O’Hara

"I believe this poem is about how it doesn't matter what you do in your life... just who you do with it. The most simple things in life, like drinking a coke, can be an incredible experience if you do it with the right person. The Frank O'Hara shows how artists tried so hard to create beautiful paintings and sculptures, but they never had the right person to be in their pieces. And that's all that matters in an experience; the person, not what you did."

HAVING A COKE WITH YOU
is even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irún, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne
or being sick to my stomach on the Travesera de Gracia in Barcelona
partly because in your orange shirt you look like a better happier St. Sebastian
partly because of my love for you, partly because of your love for yoghurt
partly because of the fluorescent orange tulips around the birches
partly because of the secrecy our smiles take on before people and statuary
it is hard to believe when I'm with you that there can be anything as still
as solemn as unpleasantly definitive as statuary when right in front of it
in the warm New York 4 o'clock light we are drifting back and forth
between each other like a tree breathing through its spectacles
and the portrait show seems to have no faces in it at all, just paint
you suddenly wonder why in the world anyone ever did them

I look
at you and I would rather look at you than all the portraits in the world
except possibly for the Polish Rider occasionally and anyway it's in the Frick
which thank heavens you haven't gone to yet so we can go together the first time
and the fact that you move so beautifully more or less takes care of Futurism
just as at home I never think of the Nude Descending a Staircase or
at a rehearsal a single drawing of Leonardo or Michelangelo that used to wow me
and what good does all the research of the Impressionists do them
when they never got the right person to stand near the tree when the sun sank
or for that matter Marino Marini when he didn't pick the rider as carefully
as the horse

it seems they were all cheated of some marvelous experience
which is not going to go wasted on me which is why I am telling you about it

Holly Golightly's Chic Chignon in Breakfast at Tiffany's

Steal Audrey Hepburn's classic 'do with these tips from Celebrity Stylist and Empire Beauty School Style Council Expert Nick Arrojo.
1. Towel dry hair until it’s damp and then generously apply ARROJO set and style spray.
2. Blow dry hair using a boar-bristle round brush for a sleek and smooth finish.
3. Create a side part using a comb, then brush all hair towards the back. Backcomb the top to add height and volume to the crown—this will give you a vintage, 1960s look.
4. Pull hair back into a low ponytail. Get a firm grip around the base of the ponytail and use your other hand to twist the tail into a tight spiral.
5. Lift the pony tail up and begin to coil it clockwise around the base. When you've made half of a circle, release the hand holding the base and use it to hold the forming bun as you continue to coil the tail of the chignon.
6. Complete one rotation, then tuck the end of the tail under the chignon. Secure with bobby pins.
7. Finish the look with a holding spray for added shine.

A Woman's Life~

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and put them on the stove. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first pot she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs and in the last she placed ground coffee beans.

She let them sit and boil and twenty minutes later she turned off the burners.
...
She removed the carrots and placed them in a bowl.

She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl.

Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl.

Turning to her daughter, she asked, “Tell me, what do you see?”

“Carrots, eggs, and coffee,” she replied. Her mother asked her to feel the carrots.

She did and noted that they were soft.

The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it.

After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg.

Finally, the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled as she smelled the aroma and tasted its rich flavour.

The daughter then asked, “What does it mean?”

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity, boiling water. Each reacted differently.

The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak.

The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened.

The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water, making it fragrant and giving it flavour.

“Which are you?” she asked her daughter. “When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?”

What about you?

When facing a challenge in life are you weakened and feel defeated by the experience?

Or do you become hardened and bitter because of the event?

Or do you see it as an opportunity to influence those around you, to make a positive difference, to leave the situation better than when you started?

It is possible to be the latter, so now’s the time to start working towards it.

My Favorite Looks from the Golden Globes

I love all three of these beautiful gowns and how they were styled!
Each is completely unique and gorgeous in its own way.
Taylor Swift's gown is chic and very trendy thanks to it's rich plum color ( Plum has been HUGE on the spring runway).
Anne Hathaway's gown is very elegant and chic, and her choice to limit her accessories really help the gown pop even more!
Michelle Dockery's gown was by far the winner of the glamorous  gown category for the evening, she glowed in her perfectly polished attire.
So, as you can see..All three enchanting ladies get Two Thumbs Up for there golden globe style!!
